RARE CONTAINERS AND ARTIFACTS MADE IN US PRISONS FROM VINTAGE CIGARETTE BOXES

Cell Solace presents handcrafted hand and shoulder bags, jewelry boxes, and unique artifacts meticulously woven from cigarette cartons and stamps by incarcerated people in U.S. prisons. These works were created between the 1940s and 1970s as gifts for loved ones. While mass incarceration continues to disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities across America, this collection stands as a testament to the enduring power of love, creativity, and the human spirit—even in the face of confinement.
